New Issue of Social Justice: Beyond Incarceration
Beyond Mass Incarceration: Crisis and Critique in North American Penal Systems. The issue examines the latest developments in incarceration rhetoric and policy and promises to be a very engrossing read. Among the highlights are an article by Marie Gottschalk, who expresses pessimism about the two strands of prison reform--racial justice and bipartisan initiatives. There are also reviews of Jonathan Simon's Mass Incarceration on Trial and of Cheap on Crime. The issue sells for $13.45, which seems like a pretty worthwhile investment in such interesting content.
